Contact your local OHIP office, or go in person. This isnt something that can be answered on here...too many variables that can play in. (eg: depends on what kind of work permit you have and how the wording is on it)
Am I eligible for Ontario health insurance?
You must have Ontario health insurance to receive health care services for which OHIP is a requirement. You may be eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) if you are included under one of the following categories:
* you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or landed immigrant, convention refugee, or are registered as an Indian under the Indian Act;
* you have submitted an Application for Permanent Residence or an Application for Landing and have been confirmed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada as having satisfied the medical requirements for landing;
* you are a foreign worker who holds a valid work permit or employment authorization which names a Canadian employer situated in Ontario and your prospective occupation, and is valid for at least six months;
* you are a foreign clergy member who will be providing services to a religious congregation in Ontario for at least six months;
* you hold a Temporary Resident Permit or Minister’s Permit with case type 80 (for adoption only), 86, 87, 88 or 89;
* you are the spouse, same sex partner, or dependent child (under 22 years old or 22 years and over if dependent due to a mental or physical disability) of a foreign clergy member or eligible foreign worker who is to be employed in Ontario for a period of at least three consecutive years;
* you hold a work permit or employment authorization under the Live-In Caregivers in Canada Program or the Foreign Domestic Movement;
* you have been issued a work permit or employment authorization under the Caribbean Commonwealth and Mexican Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program administered by the federal department of Citizenship and Immigration;
* and you make your permanent and principal home in Ontario;
* and you are in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately following the date you establish residency in Ontario (you cannot be absent for more than 30 days during the first 6 months of residency);
* and you are in Ontario for at least 153 days in any 12-month period.

What could Prez Bush be gaining by subverting the Constitution, the military and child health care?
Money. His corporate sponsors can offer contributions to him and his party.
The president also wants power. He and his cadre have resented the fact that ever since Watergate, presidents have lost (in reality, they haven't) power since the Watergate scandal and the Nixon affair. Cheney once claimed that it was his and Bush's duty to put more power in the presidency.
He doesn't care about child health care. He does it to undermine Congress' authourity. He spent hundreds of billions on the military - yet just $35 billion on healthcare seems too much all of a sudden.
No, we have a very greedy and power hungry man in power.

Your child had a seizure, and seizures are quite common in very young children who have a very high fever. I do not anticipate that your child will have another seizure once her fever goes away and she is feeling better. After she is feeling better, just keep an eye on her to see if she is showing signs of developing abnormally compared to how she was before this illness. I really do believe she will be okay though.
There are so many it's hard to know where to begin, and different countries have different issues.
In the US, we have a significant gap in health care services for low-income people, women included. Many women without insurance delay prenatal care until the second or third trimester, which has an impact on birth outcomes-- specifically low-birth weight and pre-term birth.
In other countries, sanitation is a big issue, especially clean water. It sounds very basic, but clean water is essential for good health, especially during pregnancy and for children. Famine is also a issue-- lack of water leads to famine as well. And, of course, lack of health care--- including the treatment of pre-existing conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, contribute to both the maternal and infant death rates.
Access to birth control for child-spacing is also a huge issue. Women who have children too close together compromise there own health, as well as the health of their babies. And since large families are the norm in some cultures, there is a lot of pressure to reproduce. Poor pregnancy planning is a culprit in many maternal and fetal deaths. And, the lack of birth control also leads to often unsafe and unsanitary abortions, which can cause damage and infection. Ridiculous policies advocating only abstinence and not protection from pregnancy and disease contribute to this as well. It's a vicious cycle, really.
Of course, childhood vaccinations should be a priority everywhere, but unfortunately in many countries children are not routinely vaccinated.
It's hard to say what the most important issue is for governments, since so many are inter-related, but it basically comes down to the value that society places on women and children. In cultures where women are viewed as lesser citizens, or as property, maternal health suffers, which results in poor birth outcomes. In societies where pressure is placed on women to have many children, which the family cannot afford, the health of the children suffers as well.
It's a complicated world issue, that needs multiple solutions from both governments (all of them!) and non-profits, working in partnership with each other.
Great, thought provoking question!
well seeing how aluminum is sold as a food wrap, i'd say you are safe. now i can see how you may run into problems if you are heating things up in foil. regardless it can't be any worse than your kids drinking out of an aluminum pop can.
try using wax paper or deli paper if it makes you that uncomfortable!
you can get deli paper here they are pre-cut and perfectly sized for wrapping up a sandwich.

There are two things working in your favor here....you were past your first trimester (a fetus is more radiosensitive very early in a pregnancy) and the CT scan was of an area other than your pelvis. X-rays do not fly all willy nilly around a room. They are highly directed and concentrated beams of radiation, which expose only the area of interest...in your case, your lungs. Your baby probably got very little, if any radiation from this CT scan. I urge you to talk to your OB/GYN, as he/she can probably reassure you better than anyone on this forum.
The following is taken from a website which has questions answered by qualified medical personel who are experts in radiation and it's effects. Here is what I found:
There should be no effects from the chest x ray or the
chest CT scan. The risks to the baby are minimal, if any, when x rays are taken of areas other than the abdomen. This is because the x-ray beam is focused only on the area of interest in order to minimize doses to other areas of the body. When you receive a diagnostic x-ray study of your head, teeth, chest, arms, or legs at a qualified facility, the
exposure of the x rays is not to your baby. The scatter that might reach the baby would be extremely small and would not represent an increased risk for birth defects or miscarriage to your embryo.

QUESTION: I just had a chest CT and am worried about the effect on my baby. I am 15 weeks pregnant (13 weeks fetal age) and they thought I might be having a clot in my lung, so they did the chest CT. Will this have any impact on my baby? They put two layers of lead shields on my pelvic region and said the x rays were only shot above that part anyway (my lungs). My concern is the iodine stuff they put in my veins. I didn't realize that was radioactive. I drank tons of water today to try to flush it out of my system. Will that hurt the baby?

As for the iodine that was used, it is not radioactive. It is used as a contrast agent—meaning that the doctors were able to see some areas within the body better with this contrast agent in them.

You may can get it on your child but you can't get it on yourself because your husband makes to much money. I applied for medicaid just recently and got accepted and it only took 3 or 4 weeks for my card to come in. Hoped this helped. Congrats!!!

* For the word vaccine...suggest using vaccinations or immunisations.
* It is important that children and parents have access to information....
* ...providing useful information concerning child health for child and parents in order to help the child to solve health issues.
* (3) on-line questionnaires are used to obtain the information...
Their wellbeing comes above everything for me Joan I have 3 kids 2 do very well at school and the youngest struggles I couldn't give 2 figs about how clever he is he's my little pleasure in life and has long has he's happy I couldn't careless about homework or anything else come to that.
Absolutely not. Any medical documentation that has to do with your daughter, or anyone else, without specific permission from the party involved (being your daughter) - under no circumstance, can be reviewed by anyone other than her doctor.
Medical records are strictly confidential. Any unauthorized viewing breaks that confidentiality.
And since your daughter isn't the one involved in the accident, the care provider has no grounds to release any information to any party without consent. Especially since the care provider is a childcare provider. The only other exception that could be considered is that unless a court of law has ordered such information disclosure under the circumstance that there is undeniable evidence that your daughter's records are necessary to be reviewed by a 3rd party to determine whether your grandson's accident has anything to due with abuse (i.e. knowing that her husband has abusive tendencies, and the accident could have prevented, etc.) - than her records should have not been disclosed once-so-ever.
yes, no position (even volunteer) allows you to be around children in a school setting with no training
alot of those people aren't volunteers and they have majored in speech or sociology
Under the federal law called IDEA, an IEP meeting must be held within 30 days of request. This request, as well as ALL other requests, should be done in writing. Now that they have been delaying and it is causing your child harm, I suggest writing a more detailed letter. Something like this:
Dear Special Ed Director,
On _________, 2008, I requested an IEP meeting to discuss my son's current placement and services. The school gave us a date of _____, 2008 but then cancelled and rescheduled for _______, 2008. This was cancelled as well and rescheduled for ______, 2008. Under IDEA, an IEP meeting must be held within 30 days of my request. It has now been _____ weeks/months. The district is out of compliance. If an IEP meeting is not held within 10 days of this request, we will be forced to file a compliance complaint. The district's delay is causing my son harm. His current IEP is inadequate to address my son's needs and needs to be revised as soon as possible. In the next 10 days, I am available on these dates at times: [list 4 or 5 dates and times to meet]. Further, please consider this my formal notification that I will be tape recording this and all future IEP meetings. I look forward to receiving an IEP Meeting Notice immediatelly indicating a meeting date within the next 10 days.
Make sure you make two copies of the letter. Bring both the the school district office and have them both date and time stamped and initialed. Keep one for your records as proof of delivery.

as a so-called Christian Bush has demonstrated his dedication to making WAR and Killling a profitable business in Iraq while ignoring the humanitarian effort of
'blessing our children with the same decent health care coverage he and his family enjoys!!!!!!
such a paradox!!!!!!
A Durable Health Care Power of Attorney would be the place to start. Additional forms may be necessary, depending on your particular state laws.
You will need at least three notarized originals - one for you, one for your parent, and one for your parent's doctor. If it were me, I would give a fourth notarized original to a trusted relative who doesn't live with either you or your parent.
Before the time arrives that you would have to use it, make sure that you and your parent (going there together) give one of the originals to your parent's doctor, that your parent states their wishes (the ones in your question), and you confirm with the doctor that they now have all they need to grant those wishes IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. You need your parent to be there when the form is given to the doctor so the doctor has no doubt that your parent was of sound mind when they signed the form.
The main reason for giving an original to a trusted relative is that if you take your parent to the hospital, this relative could bring their original to the hospital if needed. You wouldn't have to leave the hospital to go get it. There's also a chance (especially if your parent lives with you) that both of your originals could be lost or destroyed, and this provides for a backup original.
Good luck!
If there is not a good reason why you did not know this information before, other than you just weren't aware, I don't really think there is a way to get out of the lease without paying what the lease asks for breaking it. Sometimes, there are loopholes for the first 30 days. You can see if you can sublease, or see if they are willing to only have you pay rent until they can find another renter. Or you can move, refuse to pay your rent and see if there is a class action law suit against the Nuclear plant, landfill and chemical plant that can pay your rent and all the costs associated with not paying your rent. (Go Erin Brochovich) Overall, I just don't think the apartment owners will be responsible for the fact there is a nuclear plant, landfill, etc... near their property. If anything, that has caused their property taxes to go way down and your rent to be comparably low.
well you need to look at the different schemes set up, especially things like the sure start programme, set up by the new labour government which help parents and children to have education. You will probably need to include things like child poverty-children living in poor areas, with poor amenities-docs, hospitals ect, poor education, poor nutrition brought about by living in poverty-houses with little or no money, parents with no jobs-'lower class'. There's so much you can do with this title. Go onto the government websites or look at the social exclusion website.
have fun!

I was abandoned by my husband, Can I get child health plus or medicaid insurance for my newborn?
If you go to your local Income Support Division (often called the Fodd Stamp office) you should be able to get Mediciade. They would still look at your income and/or ability to get insurance for your child. If you arent able to afford then your baby should qualify. The aplication can be rather lengthy and there will be an interview where you are able to explain your situation. As another poster mentioned you may also qualify for cash assistance if he isnt paying child support. (TANF) Either way they will most likely have a stipulation that you cooperate with your states Child Support Division, which is governed by the states Attorney Genrals office, which is a good thing. They will try to track down your hubby and start making him pay some child support and possibly provide health coverage for the baby.
Best place to star maybe be typing medicaid your state (whatever your state is) into google and it should provide you with some links/info as far as where to go to apply for your area.
